I love the idea of doing something to commemorate your son’s graduation. The Rocky Mountaineer would definitely count as special. I think our appreciation for both local and international travel is a nice balance, and allows us to keep “traveling” even when we find ourselves home between adventures. For us travel is more a sense of mind than reaching a destination

Yes Anabel, one of the Rocky Mountaineer’s routes travels through the spiral tunnels – which would be incredible to see I think

Looks breathtaking. Years ago we took a day trip on a train somewhere north of Toronto and the scenery was awesome. Like you said, not what you see from the car. I’ve made a ote and plan to look up tours in BC. Believe this is something that would appeal alot to hubby. Nice post.

Yeah, I did something similar from Anchorage to Fairbanks, Alaska. An awesome experience, but it was free. I would love to do the one in BC as well!

I wasn’t surprised at all to hear you say that as a local you want to see more scenery. I can’t get enough of the scenery along the California coast and I see it often. There is always so much to see and do where you live which is what I talk about a lot on my blog. That being said I also understand your desire to travel abroad, I have the same desires. I’ve walked cobblestone streets in Italy and would go back in a heart beat.
This post was especially fun for me because my 22 yr old son has always been fascinated with trains (REALLY fascinated) and even worked for our local railroad during high school. He would love this trip more than I can say. I think I’ll have to look into a bit more and possibly splurge to take him on it. Might be a great college graduation trip. Thanks for the tip!
