Wow! That sounds like heaven. I had heard that they did a festival, but I hadn’t heard of anyone that had been there. I would love to see those costumes!

Fantastic post! I’ve just been to Budapest and had the fortune to stumble into the Kurtoskalacs festival in city park which is a yearly event. There were dozens of stalks selling this cult sweet treat and even people walking around in Kurtoskalacs costumes which was hilarious.

We choked at 19,000 HUF for a tour as well, which is why we decided to do the entire thing by ourselves. I’m a strong believer that everyone should be able to access these experiences whatever their budget so with the information we’ve combined you can choose to visit one or two bakeries, try a full range of pastries on your own, or take the full tour – whatever works with your travel style and budget. Glad we were able to provide some useful information – have a wonderful time in Budapest, it’s a really beautiful city and one of our favorites in Europe!

Thank you so much for this post!!! My husband and I are visiting in september. I LOVE baked goods (and generally all things delicious) but 19 000HUF is just waaaay to much. So thanks for sharing the prices at each place, it really helps knowing how much to expect to spend.

Totally going to all these spots! Have tried the flodni and chimney cakes but these kremes look amazing. I’ve yet to have a good strudel so there’s room for more sampling!
