It’s great to hear the site is getting a new lease on life but it was also wonderful to explore all graffiti covered.

When we went there in the summer 2014 there was already some construction work going on but most of the cool graffiti were still there! I even blogged about and shared some pictures because of how cool it was. It would be nice to see how it looks now…

Although, I’m surprised that you were able to hike there and indeed had been told that the hillside was cleared of mines.

My boyfriend and I visited the bobsleigh track about 6 months after you did (http://bells-and-whistles.me/2014/05/23/like-a-holiday-only-quicker-part-2-sarajevo/), by finding a taxi driver who was willing to take us (we later discovered that he was a rarity). He told us that the hillside remained littered with bombs, unlike Sarajevo’s other surrounding hills which had all been cleared. I have no idea which information is correct but I just thought you might want to add that in there since it may be a bit dangerous to encourage casual walkers, even if you guys managed to return safe and sound (for which I am very glad!)

From reading reviews on TripAdvisor, it seems as though they have not covered all of it up so you should still be able to see the graffiti and the remnants of the war. Hope you have a great time, Sarajevo is awesome!

We both love hiking and street art so what could be more exciting than hiking up Trebevic mountain and admiring the graffiti on this in more than one way historic luge. I hope they have not painted over the art works.

As such… From Turn 5, the bullet holes and sniper points have been patched and the bottom of the track resurfaced.

I can’t imagine what it would have been like to live there during the siege! Thanks for visiting the blog and hope you get back to Sarajevo soon, it’s definitely one of the most fascinating cities we’ve ever visited!

I’m from Bosnia but now live in USA Boise ID, from 1997 . I use to attend my high school in Sarajevo back in 90/91 for only a year . That was it, then the war conflict started and lasted for a few years , many people had to abandon city , but anyway I newer wisited the track (site) myself but deffinetly it’s on my next trip to Bosnia. Thank you ( this posted by Eddie)

Luckily all the mines in the area have been cleared up, and I think that there is going to be some work on making it more accessible. It’s definitely a sight worthy of more recognition.
